Caution This program is very effective at reducing your weight, blood pressure, and blood sugar level. Please consult with your treating doctor before changing your diet and do not start, stop, or change medication without professional medical advice. This website is not intended to take the place of personalised medical care or treatment and must not be taken as medical advice.
Refund Policy We will refund all coaching fees if a client does not achieve improvement in their type 2 diabetes as measured by the 3 diabetes blood tests, provided the agreed coaching program is followed and is verified.
Disclaimer & Results To meet our definition of genuine type 2 diabetes reversal, a number of criteria must be met to achieve non- diabetic range blood sugar levels. These include; (a) not requiring any diabetes medications or insulin to be taken. (b) achieving normal range blood sugar levels as measured by 3 blood tests; HbA1c test, the 2 hour glucose tolerance test (GTT) and a fasting blood sugar test. It is only possible to reverse type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes and type 1.5 (LADA) diabetes cannot be reversed and will always require insulin. A small proportion of type 2 diabetes cannot be reversed when insulin production has become insufficient. Results achieved can vary between individuals and depend on many factors, such as degree of compliance with a coaching program, pre-existing conditions, severity of existing conditions and the rate a coaching program is implemented.
RETURN TO HOW TO REVERSE DIABETES PAGE The LiMe Program consultation and assessment process. The LiMe Program places a very strong emphasis on gathering all relevant information about a client at the very start of the intake process and going through a thorough planning process, to develop a personalised lifestyle medicine based program. Rather than rushing straight in and creating a reversal program based on assumptions or general client situations, we personalise our programs to each individual’s needs and situation. Before any program starts, we go through 3 stages of planning; Stage 1 – Analysis and confirmation of diabetes diagnosis and any other health conditions We firstly confirm the diabetes diagnosis is correct and current by checking: 1) Who made the diagnosis of diabetes. 2) What the diagnosis was – e.g. type 2 diabetes, type 1, type 1.5 etc. 3) What basis was it made on i.e. the tests used to confirm the condition, such as the HbA1c or a fasting glucose test etc. 4) When was it made. Over time conditions change and the old diagnosis may be wrong. 5) What medications are currently being taken and what is the current treatment plan. 6) What other health conditions exist -e.g. any complications of diabetes such as cardio-vascular conditions, impaired renal function, high blood pressure, neuropathy or eyesight problems. We also investigate whether there are other health problems not always associated with diabetes that need to be considered. Typically, these can include gastric problems, reflux, food allergies, autoimmune conditions. We also ask if there are any stress related conditions like anxiety or depression, which can very adversely affect blood glucose levels. It’s really important to look at the health of the whole person, not just their diabetes. 7) Results of any pathology tests, especially lipid studies and blood glucose tests, so we can see what changes are happening over time and what is the current status of various key markers. 8) Confirm existing risk factors such as family history, genetic pre-disposition, lifestyle, age, ethnicity, occupation, smoking, poor sleeping habits, belly fat, sedentary habits, some medications, alcohol consumption and others. In addition, we request a new client immediately commences a 10 day food diary to show us their typical recent diet, along with glucose meter results and any stress related events in that same period. This shows the response to various foods and stress. It is essential to know the above for a personalised LiMe Program to be successful. If our preferred pathology tests have not been done recently or at all, we ask clients to have those pathology tests done. Once the results of those tests are received, along with the other information, a qualified, medical health professional will provide an evidence based report and opinion on whether reversal of diabetes is possible and how likely it is. If it is not likely to be fully reversible, we outline what health improvements could be expected by following the LiMe Program. At this stage, a client may wish to present the report to another health professional for an opinion or proceed to stage 2 of the process. In addition to providing you with a report and opinion, we will provide you with a general outline of the strategy we think will be required to achieve the results thought to be achievable. Having this information is very valuable as it allows a client to prioritise their health and make well informed decisions. The cost of providing the stage 1 services described above will vary according to the complexity of the situation, how much information is readily available, how many pathology tests are needed and how much input is needed from qualified health professionals. After an initial phone call, we can provide a costs estimate. There is no obligation to continue with the LiMe Program or proceed further to stage 2 of our planning process. Stage 2 – Establish client’s requirements and goals for their personalised LiMe Program After the diagnosis is confirmed, the chances of reversal are known and we have the full health picture, we go through our client requirements’ checklist. This is where we find out what the client’s goals and requirements are for a coaching program to be successful. It also covers what challenges, weaknesses and strengths exist. This will include whether or not there is any comfort eating or eating in response to psychological stress. Our program checklist covers a myriad of issues that will affect program success. They typically include; the level of coaching support needed, budget constraints, meal planning assistance needed, time available for cooking and food preparation, food preparation skill level, kitchen facilities, whether others in the household are participating and supportive, exercise preferences, travel and work constraints, eating out needs, food preferences, allergies, likes, dislikes and/or cultural considerations. With advice from a qualified health professional, we confirm what the diabetes monitoring requirements are. These may be regular reviews by a GP or dietitian, periodic blood tests and a self monitoring regime. Regular blood glucose monitoring and pathology tests will confirm the effectiveness of the program. This thorough analysis and planning allows us to create personalised LiMe Program coaching plans that are realistic and achievable. Every client has different needs and health situations and we create personalised lifestyle medicine plans to suit them. The cost of providing the stage 2 services described above will vary according to the complexity of the situation, and how much input is needed from qualified health professionals. We will provide an estimate before starting the process. Stage 3 – Provide a detailed, costed and personalised LiMe Program proposal With the client’s goals and requirements known, we will create and present a costed and detailed LiMe Program coaching plan to consider. The plan is reviewed and approved by the appropriate medical health professionals, such as a GP or holistic dietitian before presentation to the client. Only the client’s existing GP/MD or one of our recommended lifestyle medicine physicians would make changes to medications. The LiMe Program is a lifestyle medicine based program and will typically include Medical Nutrition Therapy, involving changes in diet, ideally towards a plant-based way of eating, that initially includes adopting the Karbeto diet and then transitioning to a sustainable, long term way of eating. This will be personalised to suit a client’s food preferences, the severity of their diabetes and any other factors that will affect their ability to make dietary changes. It may also include time targeted exercise to reduce blood glucose spikes, general exercise/movement program and stress management techniques. A client is under no obligation to implement the coaching plan with us. The personalised plan becomes yours to keep and implement with or without our support. However, because we offer a results based, money back guarantee on our coaching fees, most clients use our coaching services. The cost of providing the stage 3 proposal described above will vary according to the complexity of the situation, the level of detail needed and how much review and input is needed from qualified health professionals. We will provide an estimate before starting the plan creation process. Stage 4 – The approved LiMe Program is implemented Plans generally need regular reviews as we monitor the results of the coaching plan. We suggest clients keep in mind that for the changes to be maintained long term, it normally requires at least 6 months of coaching. It typically starts off with higher levels of coaching support, which then reduces as clients become self-sufficient and successfully incorporate the lifestyle changes into their life.
